Hi Sandy, The only Solomon/Soloman Johnston that came up in the index was this one in Hamilton Co. You mentioned "young" but didn't give us an idea of age; I didn't find any Johnston family listed for Monroe Co in 1860. 1860, Oh, Hamilton Co, Colerain twp, pg 228; Soloman (their spelling of the name) Johnston, age 30, b. Virginia, cooper; he is in the household of Geo. Lehnbwter (I'm not sure after seeing the name on the actual census page that Geo's last name is spelt that way but it is how it is indexed).. If this is not your Solomon, can you give us an idea of age and where you think he was born, plus - the 1860 on Ancestry is an everyname index so even if you knew any siblings it might help locate his family. I checked the 1850 to see what I could find and their are 2 Solomon Johnston's that come up in the index in OH; one is age 23, b. OH and found in Logan Co, Harrison twp; one is 25, b. OH, found in Muskingum Co, Meigs twp; If you want a reading on either of these, you can repost to the list. Hope there is something here to help you. Hi Gilburns, IF you can supply some add'l info we can recheck for the right family. We would need names of others you might expect to be in the household, their approx ages and where born if possible. The 1930 index is an everyname index so with the more names in this household you supply, the greater chance we can find the right ones. Hi, I haven't been able to find this family in the 1930 census anywhere in OH. The 1930 is an everyname index and yet they still aren't coming up in the index. It's possible they were missed in the original census or by the indexer. Sorry I didn't find them. Ohio Listers...sorry...I just posted a reply to the list regarding the marriages of two Hutchins girls to two Teel men, but did not explain the reason for the post. (I've been gone from the list too long and kind of forgot what I was doing). Both girls were shown to be servants in 1900 households in Noble Co, Ohio and are suspected to be sisters of the Carrie/aka Clara Belle Hutchins who was a subject of a recent request and found to be a servant in the Stephens household in 1900 Noble Co. I found the other two girls in 1910 and 1920 as married women with families , but have not listed out each family member and age yet....nor do I have access to the 1930 census. Perhaps someone else could check the 1930 to see if they were still alive and where they were. One of these girls may have gone by a different first name later in life....maybe EDNA Teel. In 1920, James Teel was in Noble Co with wife Nellie and Leonard Teel was in Guernsey Co with wife Bertha. Julie
Hi...I went just a bit further (love a mystery)...and checked the Teel Family Forum...and found that somebody had indeed posted about this Teel family group. Note that Nellie Hutchins did indeed marry James Teel...and Leonard Teel married Bertha (name given as Hutchinson). Gary Kelley...who posted the following on the forum, says he has more information if this is your family line...but hard to tell if he has anything on the Hutchins girls...but probably does have more about their families going forward in the years. We can only hope. _GKelley700@aol.com_ (mailto:GKelley700@aol.com) this is his email address from the website, Teel Family Forum. Notice that his post was in March of 2000...so his email address could have changed. However...you could post to the forum as well as send him an email ....and see what happens.
