    3. Marilyn , I have no idea when Herman Kahl came to America. I have no information on other information on him in that he married a Widow Anna maria "Mary " Deinzer (Denzer, Denger) in 1868. There's a John KAHLE in Putnam Co. and the Henrey KAHL in Richland Co. that I mentioned in my previous email. Are you certain they were in the US in 1840? Maybe they didn't immigrate until later?     2. Joyce, The 1840 index only lists the name of the head of household and since Herman would only be 13 yrs. old in 1840 he won't be listed.
