Thanks! I did get a very nice reply. I appreciate your help. The husband is Charles E Brown, living in Ashtabula in 1910. He was born abt 1881 in OH. Mersey died in 1919, so you would be correct in finding Viola with her widowed father in Ashtabula in 1920.

I didn't see a reply for your request in the list's archives. The 1910 index only lists the name of the Head of Household, so Mersey wouldn't be listed. I checked the 1920 index and found a Viola I. BROWN b. 1906, living in Ashtabula with her widowed father Charles E. BROWN age 39. Do you know if her mother had died before 1920? The 1910 index shows 28 results for Charles BROWN born abt. 1881 + or - 1 yr. but none in Ashtabula Co. Do you know any other county they might have lived in? Elbert is buried in Eagleville Cemetery in Austinburg, Ashtabula CO. From the SSDI it now looks as though he may have been born down south. I will ask on the North Caroline or WV census lookups if they can find him. Thanks to everyone who looked into this for me!
