    1. O'Donnell's and Gallaghers of Carrickatimpan
    2. WARREN BROUSSARD
    3. Hi list, This may be late for the roll call. I have been researching the family of my grandmother, Annie O'Donnell. She was the daughter of Dan O'Donnell and Margery Gallagher of Carrickatimpan, Glendowan, County Donegal. Annie emigrated to the US about 1879 - most of her siblings emigrated also - but not at the same time. Annie married James Bradley and eventually settled in Philadelphia. Annie's siblings were: Susan, who married Hugh Hamill; Grace, married (?) McCloskey; Agnes, married Monty Farrell; Mary, married Dan Conners; James who married twice; Patrick, married Bridget O'Donnell; Joseph, married Ellen Boyle; Charles, married Ella McLaughlin; Hugh, married Rose Massey and Dan who remained single. There was also a sister who married a Lynch - her name might have been Bridget. Most of these families settled in the Philadelphia - Wilmington area. There was also a sister, Maggie, who married Dominick Harken and remained in Ireland. There was a brother, John who also remained in I! reland and married Mary Gallagher. John and Mary had 10 children and all of them emigrated although not all to the US. Do these names mean anything to anyone on the list? If so, contact me - would be glad to share information. 3. I have very little on my father's family. My father, Lawrence Raymond O'Donnell, was born in Pittsburgh, Pa on December 15,1906 and died in Newport, RI in July 1976. His brothers were John, Joe and Jim (the twins), and Leo. There may be more brothers, but probably no sisters. His father, Daniel O'Donnell, was a carpenter and built houses around Pittsburgh; he would build a house, live in it, and then sell it. Daniel O'Donnell was married to Julia O'Connell and both were born in Ireland and immigrated around the turn of the century. Lawrence Raymond O'Donnell was married in Pittsburgh and had several children with his first wife, Ruth. Patricia was their youngest child. He divorced and moved to Washington, DC during the war. He met and married Mary Hickey from Boston and had one child, Rosemary.

Howsan is buried at Eastview cemetary in Mt.Pleasant, MO. He is also listed as being in the co 12 Kansas state infantry. I would like to know his parents names. It would also be interesting how he ended up in Washington and why he came back without Millie. He was 50 in the 1870 census.

    1. Roll Call & Recent findings
    2. Sue O'Donnell
    3. Hello fellow O's, I'll try to be brief as possible. My great great grandfather was James O'Donnell from Tipperary. Exact location - unknown. He was born in 1837 and died perhaps as late as 1917 in San Francisco. He was a policeman on the San Francisco Police Dept. among many other "careers" it seems. He was married to Catherine Donovan O'Donnell (1840-1886). She was from the Parish of Urlingford, Co. Kilkenny and also died in San Francisco. They were parishoners at St. Patrick's Church in San Francisco. James or Catherine it seems were somehow related to the McBrearty family living in San Francisco in the 1880s onwards. These McBreartys are descended from Kilmacreannan, Co. Donegal according to the record found. A list member queried this exact set of names and it turned out I have a whole bunch of info. pertaining to this link in the past which I was happy to share with her. Now for some interesting, fruitful news: I have located several close cousins I never knew I had in San Francisco. I am now exchanging information with one of them from this lineage. However, sadly, none of them are of O'Donnell family descent (surnames: Hardiman, Kerr & Sullivan). If anyone has a link to any of this, let me now. Best wishes to all, Susanna O'Donnell _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com

The 1900 census, Brooklyn, Ward 29, Ft Hamilton Ave in NY has the following entry: Eli A. Kellem, 29 yrs old, born Sept 1870 in NJ, Father born in NJ, mother born in SC, occupation-pipe fitter Alice F., wife, 28 yrs old, born Dec 1871 in NY, father born in Ireland, mother born in Ireland, married for 8 yrs, had 8 children with 3 living Alice F., daughter, age 6, born Oct 1893 in NY Albert J., son, age 3, born Nov 1896 in NY Ethel M., daughter, age 1, born Oct 1898 Mary E. O'Donnell, mother-in-law, age 58, born April 1842 in Ireland, father born in Ireland, mother born in Ireland, widow, had 7 children with 2 living; to the United States in 1863, in this county for 37 years. The story was that she lost 4 children on the journey over, Alice lived and James J. was born on President St. in Brooklyn. Information given on James and Mary Harrigan O'Donnell- Today's mail brought death certificates for James J. O'Donnell and his first wife, Mary Harrigan. So sad! Mary O'Donnell died on Jan 28, 1914 (five days after Leroy was born) at 4:00 p.m. at 216 Hoyt Street, a tenement in Brooklyn, Death Certificate number 2674. An autopsy was performed and the cause of death was asphyxia due to gas poisoning. Details of medical examiner's report not included. No personal information was provided or known to the county medical examiner. She was buried in a pauper's grave at the County Farm on Feb 5, 1914 by the Dept. of Public Charities. James J. O'Donnell died on Dec 8, 1931 in a taxicab en route to the hospital. Again, an autopsy had to be performed because he died unattended. Cause of death was chronic myocarditis. His occupation was listed as pipe closer. The big news is his parents were listed as Michael O'Donnell and Mary Dundeen from information provided by Mrs. Lottie O'Donnell. He lived at 265 89th Street in Brooklyn at the time of his death. He was buried on Dec 12, 1931 at St John's Cemetery. * I was always told that his father was James and am unsure what to think- Still searching. Thank you!
