This is what he would have filed to become a U.S. citizen. I found such papers for my own 2nd-great-grandfather, and they established which county he came from in Ireland. I believe these are held at the county level (i.e. the U.S. county where he lived and became naturalized) for records through the 1800s; sometime in the 1900s they began being held by the federal government. I'm going back to square one looking at ships manifests to see if I can spot when he came to the USA, I know the dates that he was here and when my grandfather was born so I'm getting it narrowed down.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/oI4.2ACIB/797.1 Message Board Post: Jerry: Have you visited the Molly Maguire groups at Yahoo? There are several O'Donnell researchers there and quite a few "historians" of the Molly Maguire Era. All you have to do is sign up (it's free) and post a query. I'm sure you'll get a lot of info just reading past posts. Try these: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mollymaguires/ and http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mollymaguiresforum/ Although I'm one of those O'Donnell researchers, I have not found a connection of our line to the "Mollies." But I find them quite interesting. Have you read Kevin Kenny's "Making Sense of the Molly Maguires?" A good read! I have other suggestions, if you're interested.

    3. Jerry, oddly enough I could not contact you personally so I’ll try this. We marched this week up at Jim Thorpe (Mauch Chunk) with the AOH/LAOH where each year a wreath is placed at the jail where the Mollies were wrongly hung. The local store has several books on the Mollies and they are on line. The Treasure Shop http://www.irishtreasureshop.com/items.htm Also you might want to drop a line to the Carbon Co AOH because last year at the Stroudsburg parade I had the pleasure of riding with a fellow O’Donnell when my leg gave out. He did know his family history but ours did not match. http://aoh1.com/ Alec Campbell Division – AOH/LAOH I hope these help you get started. Let me know if I can be of any help. I do not have a death date for Edward; plan on requesting a search of 10 yrs. to see if I find him. If I am able to connect to your Edward I'll contact you. Thanks. Linda
