I would very much like to know. There is evidence that the name was spelled O'Gallaher or Gallaher _before_ they came over, meaning that the middle 'g' had already been dropped. I suspect this is a good clue, but I just don't know exactly how to interpret it. Michael http://www.ogallagher.org

    1. James W. O'Donnell from Boston obit.
    2. Sue O'Donnell
    3. Hello to all O'Donnells! I wrote for this record from old San Francisco days thinking this James W. O'Donnell was mine but it doesn't appear to be the case - a possible cousin - ?. Follows the obit.: O'DONNELL - In this city, May 26, 1895, James W. O'Donnell, a native of Boston, Mass., aged 52 years. I hope someone can claim the James named above. Given the name, he could likely be a cousin of mine and I have found a record of an O'Donnell family connection to Boston, Mass. (c. 1885). Does anyone else have excessive numbers of O'Donnells named "James William"? Regards to all, Sue O'Donnell

    3. Daisie - > MIT will not allow me to search their alumni data base. He was married > to Elizabeth O'Neil in New England. Even so, a call to the MIT Library or the Alumni Association should help. The library ought to have yearbooks on file and if you know the approximate year of his graduation it would be simple to check out. The reference librarian is the person to ask for, If that doesn't work, the Alumni Association should have membership rolls that they could research. That wouldn't be the same as going through the registrar's office which is what I presume that you referred to above. Dick ******************************************************* Richard J. 1. William O'Donnell b.1920 Edinbugh
    2. Hello, I am looking for the ancestors of my maternal grandfather, William O'Donnell. I believe he was the son of Nellis O'Donnell and Mariah McKennery(?) who were teachers and was born April 10, 1920 (?) in Edinburg. He served in the British Navy during WWII. and after serving, went to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)in Boston. (MIT will not allow me to search their alumni data base.) He was married to Elizabeth O'Neil in New England. I believe he died in Australia in @ October 1995, but am not sure. One other thing that I know about the family is that there is something to do with raising orchids. Please help me if you can - although I am only a junior in high school, I am really trying to find out more about my family. Thanks in advance for any help. Sincerely, Daisy O'Donnell-Schneider Providence, RI
