Hello Everyone !! I'm glad to be home and in my own bed and with my dogs underfoot instead of nurses and caretakers of our little world for the last few weeks. I highly recommend this hospital and it's doctors, IF, you every find yourself in a position like we have. This as you know was our second visit there in San Francisco, once when Sarah was a day old and had openheart surgery at 9 days that saved her life and now at the ripe old age of 6, with the same heart surgeon. And he is just delighted at out little one, especially as no one expected her to live at all. Our Sarah is at home, chomping at the bit to get outside and romp with the brothers and sisters and cousins. But that will take a while. It was not until last Friday that her last chest tube was removed, then 24 hours had to pass before releasing her. An x-ray on Saturday morning showed fluid still surrounding the heart and some around and in the lungs. We are all praying that her body will soon absorb all of it and no further action will be taken. We have to take her to Sacramento (it's a little closer to home- 4 hours, south) on Wednesday to have her checked to make sure that is indeed happening. Her Doctor goes there every 3 months and has seen Our Sarah there for the last 6 years there and in Ashland, Oregon (3 hours north) every year for echocardiograms. Our Sarah was delighted to recieve all of the cards, gifts, photos and letters sent her way, and the last few days she recieved quite a few. They were most welcome as she wanted out of there so bad. She will be sending out thank you cards soon to all of you. I want to thank all of you and those who e-mailed me will be getting a return in the next few days. We hope to have a photo to share with all of you within the month. Again, So much to be thankful for. And you guys are GREAT !!! Remember to drop that extra change in the Ronald McDonald house fund next time you go. You never know when you may need it.
