    3. Hi all I have never listed this line on any of the sites - however it appears to be the only link that may lead to my O'Connors. John and Mary O'Connor (nee Corbit/Corbet) born Clare. (possible time frame 1805-1840- Farmers Dtr Ellen (pos Eleanor) b c 1840. Came to Victoria, Australia in 1860 where she immediately married George Henry McCausland from Northern Ireland. I am coming to the conclusion my gr grandfather was in fact the child of above and took his mothers maiden name. He was a republican.. All certificates say his parents were George Henry O'Connor and Ellen O'Connor. I know that he referred to a son of the McCauslands as his stepbrother (in fact his widow married him). . Was he in fact his real brother?? I also know that his wife Mary (nee Reilly) whose family came from Offaly were also Republicans she had a lot of contact with relatives on both sides as late as the time of "the troubles" in 1916. This distressed her. She was dead by 25th August 1922. My request is that someone may have this family in their line or may have some anecdotal stuff that will assist me. I am also posting another query under "steeplechase riding/ Irish Ballads" on this page as it may also give a clue. many thanks Iris Wood
