Your current post shows on #1100, a Ellen O'Connor, dau of Denis O'Connor and Mary Shea. Ellen could be my grand mother's(Margaret O'Connor)sister, except that I was under the impression that my GGM's name was Margaret. They were supposed to hail from Killarney, but not proof of that has surfaces. The name Ellen fits, the year born, 1872 is within reason. It there a way I can expand on this? Again, speaking for the list, I congratulate you in your generous contributions to those seeking their roots. I will continue to remember you in my Sunday Masses. Description: This compilation contains an alphabetical list of Louisiana soldiers who fought for the state militia during the War of 1812. Taken from the National Archives, each entry includes the rank and company to which the soldier was attached. With nearly fifteen thousand soldiers listed, this is a great tool for filling gaps in one's ancestral research. Bibliography: Pierson, Marion John Bennett, comp. I am trying to get some information on an Edward O'Connor (I am not sure of the exact spelling. Family lore states he was born in County Cork, probably in the last quarter of the 1700s. It is possible however, that he came from Kerry ans simply immigrated from Cork. He married a Catherine Donnovan also stated to have been from Cork. They had a son, Charles born in 1819 in Co. Cork & died November 27, 1874 in Hastings, Ontario, Canada. Thank you in advance for any assistance you might be able to provide. Sincerely, J. Patrick O'Connor
On the cemetery list I recieved, there were no O'Connors/var listed. Will be glad to forward the whole list to anyone who wants it. Also will send the files for the marriages if anyone wants them. In case you have other names you might be looking for in Nova Scotia. Remember these are partial lists. Ley
I'm going to go ahead and send this. It may come to you in a download file. If you wish a copy of all of the marriages for other names please advise, I will send it separately. I separated the O'Connor/Var out and this is it. There may be some dups. The file is broken into female/male Am waiting for cemetery records also. Ley MARRIAGE BONDS 1763 - 1820 Compiled by: Jean M. Over the years these bonds deteriorated, and they were closed to the public. But before closure they were microfilmed, and a chronological typescript list was prepared. The next step seemed to be an index, and computers made this an easier task. The index for 1821 -1840 was the first section to be completed. It was compiled from the microfilm and the typescript list. Later, when it was realized many of the microfilmed bonds were too faded to read, permission to use the original bonds was granted. When the printed index was compared with the original bonds, some inconsistencies appeared involving both names and dates. This is covered more fully in the introduction to that section. The original bonds were used as an aid in compiling the indexes for all the other years. The original bonds were used as an aid in compiling the indexes for all the other years. There are marriage bonds for 1870 and 1871 for Lunenburg County on reels 15937 and 15858. These are hard to read and have a great variety in the spellings of individual names. For the most part they are in chronological order, certainly within a month, except for October, November and December 1871, where the order is somewhat haphazard. Fortunately there are other sources for the same information, and these sources give more details about the marriage. With two exceptions all entries are to be found on reel 15858, Lunenburg County Index to Marriages 1864 - 1908, and reel 16538, Lunenburg County Marriage Registers 1864 - 1877. The two exceptions are: 1. George Shatford and Rachel Collins, bond dated 1 January 1870, located on reel 15937. No further information is given in the Marriage Register. 2. Zablaw and Lucy Cross, bond dated 18 November 1871. As the original bond bears the comment "not used", one is not surprised to learn this marriage does not appear in the Marriage Register. Many thanks to all who replied to my note on posting the baptisms for Castleisland Parish. Most of you gave me the "go ahead", including the listowners of these sites,to which I am most appreciative. The volumns I have transcribed from are listed in order by date; I have changed that to be done by townland, thinking it would be easier to find siblings that way. I have heard that a few of you HAVE found relations!! That is great and certainly what I was hoping for! Good Luck to the rest of us, and I will keep posting as time allows. Thanks for your encouragement!! donalene
