    1. [OCONNELL-L] OConnells from Cork
    2. Frank O'Connell
    3. Hi .... I am interested in information concerning the following O'Connells from Co. Cork, probably Macroom. In the mid-1800's Charles O'Connell (1) married Mary Duggan (probably about 1856-1857) and they had four children; Timothy, Peter, Nora, and John (1). Peter married Nora Burke and they had four children; Charles (2), Bridget, John (2), Mary After Nora Burke died, Peter, emigrated to Massachusetts. His brother Timothy and sister Nora also emigrated. I don't know if John (1) emigrated or stayed; my guess - he stayed. Peter remarried in Massachusetts and had a second family. He moved his first family to Massachusetts also. I am interested in any information about Charles O'Connell and Mary Duggan. And John (1) if he stayed in Ireland. Also, information on Nora Burke if it would lead to more information on Peter and Charles (1). I have information about the families after their arrival in Massachusetts. If anyone else's search intersects with mine, please contact me. Frank

    1. [OCONNELL-L] Jefferson County, OH O'Connell families
    2. Kay Davidson
    3. We are looking for the Jefferson County, OH, O'Connell family. We have Charles O'Connell, b. Ireland; wife Bridget b. NY; children all born in OH; Mary Ann, Peter, Daniel, John, Charles, James, Sarah, Rosanna, William, David, Martha, Nancy. Mary Ann married Cicero Davidson and lived in Springfield Township, Jefferson County and raised a large family. The Ohio 1880 Census, p 422, line 90 reports "Rose Allman";age 30, as "sister-in-law" in the same house. If any has Rose (Rosanna) O'Connell Allman in their file, we would love to hear from you. Also, Mary Ann and Cicero Davidson named one of their sons, David W. Davidson. The "W" stand for Winkleplech. This family name is present in Jefferson County. Would any of you have any knowledge of the connection of the Winkleplech name to the O'Connell family? We are thinking that since we do not have Bridget's maiden name, and following a part of the traditional naming pattern, that David was named after his grandmother/grandfather since he is the first son born to Mary Ann and Cicero. Again, if anyone has any information or connection to this family, we would love to hear from you. Thanks for your time, Kay Davidson

    2. Michael Foy
    3. Seek information on great-great-grandfather Jeremiah O'Connell (born Ireland approx. 1835). 1870 Philadelphia Census lists with daughters Mary (age 10) and Bridget (5), living with brother William (d. July 1899), William's wife Margaret (nee Conlin) and son William. 1880 Census enumerates him with daughter Bridget and widowed sister Mary Kane(d. October 1894). Mary's husband John died July 5, 1875. Died September 5, 1888 in Philadelphia and is buried in Old Cathedral Cemetery. Specific immigration data is unknown, however later census enumerations of daughter Bridget narrow the range between 1868-1870.

    1. [OCONNELL-L] Connell and Lavallan
    2. Dear Fellow Listers: Last week I posted lists of Baptisms and Marriages for a few parishes in CO. Cork. Now I'd like to ask for help tracing descendants of some relatives that I discovered on this last trip to Ireland. The names that I am looking for connections to are Maurice Connell and his wife Mary Lavallan. They would be my great-great-grandparents. They would have lived in Ballygarvan as that is where all their children were baptized and that is where my great-grandmother Hannah was living when she married my great-grandfather, Bat Dempsey (of Ballyfeard) on Feb. 7, 1877 in Ballygarvan. Hannah had at least one sister, Abina (married Maurice Hogan of Douglas), and two brothers, John and James. Abina and Maurice Hogan raised my grandmother Nell Dempsey (Murphy), her sister and her brother, after her mother and two brothers died of TB around 1905. Does anyone have any connections to Connell (not O'Connell) and Lavallan from that area? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you and good luck to all in their search. Dan Murphy: Boston
