    3. Robin, Have you gotten the birth certificate of Gregory? it might be more helfpful to find onfo on the death certficate or obits on Violet. Amazing informs to be found n the actual birth and death certs., and I have really found this to betrue . Probability is that you are distant cousin, and thus, I pray God be with you, dear family. I will tell you all I know on the O'Connell family, which is not much. 3. Dear Robin: IF you have Gregory's social security number, you can write a letter and ask IRS to forward it for you. They will not give you his address, but they will forward mail. Rootsweb is generally not a place for adoptees to seek birth parents and they discourage this type of message.... seeking living persons. However, I believe we all can appreciate how it feels to have a hole in your life. Does your mother have any information to share with you? Do you know where he went to high school? Alumni Associations usually have current addresses of older graduates. And --- his 40th reunion is coming up in the next couple of years. Given his birthyear, he probably served in the Armed Forces. You might try the Veterans..... Also, Grants Pass is not a really huge town. If you know his address when he lived there, you could use a reverse directory and contact everyone on the block to find out if someone has a clue where he moved. Good luck in your search, Lauren daughter of Geraldine O'Connell, granddaughter of George Keven O'Connell Searching San Francisco for O'Connells Victoria Adams wrote: > Robin, > Have you gotten the birth certificate of Gregory? it might be more helfpful > to find onfo on the death certficate or obits on Violet. 2. Greetings, My name is Robin. I am looking for my O'Connell family history. I have searched just about every place I can to find any info with little or no luck yet. Maybe someone here can help me. I am looking for a Gregory Joseph O'Connell born Sept 2 1943, to Timothy and Violet (Downey) O'Connell. Birthplace believed to be in the Chicago area, or Lake County Illinois. Thoughts that the info I have is incorrect on the birthplace, I have just been informed that there is a New Chicago Indiana that is located in Lake County just a short drive from Chicago Ill. So I am lost again. Siblings are believed to be .... Donald, and Wayne or Dwayne, and a sister Phyllis. Gregory was married to Elsie Ruth Gale in Flagstaff, Az Sept 22, 1962. Divorced in 1965, believed in Orange County California. Last known location was Grants Pass Oregon, 1965-66. Occupation was auto body specialist, and then went into business with family Door and cabinet building. The whereabouts since have been totally unknown. I am almost believing that this is nothing more than a dead end trail. Unfortunately, I am missing something in my life...... this is my father. ~~~Robin O'Connell

    3. My Gr. Grandfather was James Connell, born around 1860 in country Mayo. On his Death Cert. it said his father's name was Patrick Connell. There are three Patrick Connells in the Griffiths coming from Co. Mayo. Apprently, it was common for a time to drop the 'O' from O'Connell around but by the 1920's many had put it back on. 3. Dear Listmembers: I am new to the list and have not had the opportunity to observe prior to the need arising to contact the listowner. Please forgive my confusion, but, I have gotten several responses to that message and I do not know who is the listowner, or if I have been contacted by him/her yet. I suspect not, by the content of the messages. In an attempt to reduce the confusion on all parts, I am posting again. I need a response ONLY from the person who owns and administers this surname list. Rootsweb sent a message to all of us that are coordinators for GenConnect in which there is need for the surname listowners and us to cooperate in order to have more genealogical information available to you, the listmember. As I have no other way of contacting this person, I have sent a message to this list requesting contact. My message had nothing to do with anyone's post or attempted post to any of the GenConnect boards. However, if you do need help with any of your posts to the GenConnect Boards for O'Connell, I am the person to contact. My email address is listed at the bottom of each page, should you need it in future. Erin Go Brach! Lauren Boyd daughter of Geraldine O'Connell born San Francisco, 1915

    2. Hi, I am looking for a MAURICE O'CONNELL and his wife, CATHERINE HUNT O'CONNELL. I was told they were born in Co. Kerry, IR about 1820ish. They came to Mara TWP, N. Ontario CO, Ontario. during the potato famine. I have had two dates given me 1847 & 1849. Their children were supposed to be born in W. Gwilliamsberry, Simcoe CO. They were supposed to attend church in Atherly. They had one daughter, Margaret, who was 6 months old when they left IR. She died and was buried at sea. This info was given to me by my Aunt, their granddaughter. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Thanks Jean Spokane WA

    2. Oh,Kay.....If your looking for O'Connells in NY,you have your work cut out for you. It's like their everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Do you have any dates for your Mary?Mine was born in MA.Then to NY she came.Like I stated, all I have right now are names. And her birth date of 1881. Which is another problem.I got her birth reg.it came as 1881.On the 1920 census,it comes to be 1884,finally,when she died, her death cert.and tombstone say 1888.Ain't that a kick?My family stood in NY,however, you may want to check the web pages of the Brooklyn list, maybe you can locate a marriage cert.or something there.<A HREF="http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~blkyn/Bklyn.Info.Page.html">Cli ck here: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~blkyn/Bklyn.Info.Page.html</ A> http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~blkyn/Bklyn.Info.Page.html Well, actually, you'd have to wait a bit,the pages on marriages are only 1/2 way through the M's.But check the bits and pieces, they have some entrys for the Brooklyn Eagle paper you can check.Browse the whole site. It's all donated by the list members and has a lot of good stuff. I do have this one listing of a Mary Ann,you didn't say if it was her married or maiden name. Also,I don't know what time frame you need, but here goes. As listed on the 1875 marriage census that someone sent me... Mary Ann O'Connell age 24 and Michael O'Halloran age 27 married on January 16,1875(Hey,thats today for their anniversary!!!) Thats about all I know,I'm hoping someone can help me too :) I've got O"Connells,Moody's,O'Donoghues,Ryans,Sullivans,James'es, Hennings,Avent and I'm still trying to sort them out.Try a search engine with O'Connell, theres a few web sites out there you can check. ~*~ Maureen ~*~ < "I intend to live forever...so far,so good ">

    2. Looking for my grand-mothers family. As yet,I have nothing but a few names. If anyone knows this family, please help. Grand-ma was Mary O'CONNELL b.1881 in Worcester MA. One known sister...Julia Parents are from Co.Cork,Ireland John O'CONNELL and Kate FORREST I have yet to find them on any census for MA. I know that Mary had moved to NY,before or after marriage is still a mystery. Mary married Charles Francis MOODY b.1882 Canada,I would think early 1900's.They had 9 children,7 survived to adulthood. The first surviving child was born mid 1909,so the marriage dates before that. Mary O'CONNELL MOODY died Dec.3,1960,and is buried in St.Charles cem, in NY.I cannot get any leads on this family.Any hints would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.... ~*~ Maureen ~*~ < "I intend to live forever...so far,so good ">

    2. Frank/Patricia White
    3. I am seeking contact with any members of the family or researchers familiar with Mary Anne O'Connell, b. and d. unknown, who was the wife of John Joseph White and gave birth to son John Joseph White in Dublin, Sept 1863. Mary Anne and her husband may have been "wealthy" Londoners living temporarily in Dublin and then Manchester in John Joseph Jr.'s "early years." It is also possible that Mary Anne was Irish, perhaps from Dublin, and married John Sr. while he was living there. Supposedly, John Jr. and a brother, name and birthday unknown, emigrated to Canada from Manchester sometime in the 1870s to finish their educations and pursue teaching careers. The brother died in Canada and John Jr. immigrated into the US in 1878 where he finished his education and set off for a teaching career in California. John Jr. became estranged from the family over his marriage to a French immigrant in Los Angeles in 1897, and thus no other information is available about Mary Anne. Frank White Colorado Springs
