Eugene M. Kleiner Eugene Michael Kleiner, a Portland resident for 73 years, died Thursday in a Terre Haute, Ind., care center. He was 81. He was born in Boston and moved to Portland in 1911. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1992 and from Oregon State Agricultural College, now Oregon State University, in 1927. He worked for 35 years as a civil engineer for the city of Portland, retiring in 1974. He moved to Terre Haute two years ago. Mr. Kleiner was a member of Phi Kappa Pau fraternity and the Portland Life Saving Team. Survivors include his wife, Florence I. of Terre Haute; daughters, Elaine Kleiner of Terre Haute and Diana of Austin, Texas; and a sister, Pauline Goelz of Portland. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Callahan Funeral Home in Terre Haute. Burial will be Tuesday in Rose City Cemetery.
