Topeka Capital-Journal, The (KS) - April 6, 2009 Deceased Name: Anna L. Channel ST. MARYS- Anna L. Channel, 88, died Saturday, April 4, 2009 at the Community Hospital in St. Marys. She was born July 3, 1920 at Montrose, CO. the daughter of John Orville and Inez DeOlevette Bateman Hubbard. She was raised in the Parker and Keene communities and graduated from Dover High School. She attended Brigham Young and Washburn Universities. She was united in marriage to Floyd Rex Taylor on October 25, 1939. He preceded her in death on February 1, 1947. She was married to Frank E. Channel on May 16, 1948. They celebrated 58 years of marriage before his death on October 1, 2006. Mrs. Channel was also preceded in death by a son Veryl Channel. Survivors include her children, Donald "Rex" (Shirley) Taylor, Mesquite, TX, Darrell (Sue) Taylor, Breckenridge, CO, Arthur (Mary) Channel, Mooresville, NC, MaryAnn Hughes, Topeka, Martin (Brenda) Channel, Emmett, Rodney (Dana) Channel, Miami, OK, and Virginia (Jim) Schmelzle, Topeka; 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, April 9, 2009 at the St. Marys United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the America City Cemetery. Mrs. Channel will lie in state after 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys. Her family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:00 P.M.
