September 21, 2009 Shirley Jackson obituary: A Sunday School teacher for more than 50 years. SHIRLEY ANN JACKSON passed away Sunday, September 20, 2009 at the Cleveland Area Hospital. She was 72 years old. Shirley Ann Brooks was born October 6, 1936 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, the daughter of Lester and Ruth (Carroll) Brooks. On January 7, 1957, she married James William Jackson in Pawhuska. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Shirley was a member of the Wynona First Baptist Church. She had been a Sunday School teacher for more than fifty years. Surviving family include: Her husband: James W. Jackson of the home; Two sons: Joel Jackson and wife, Linda; and Daniel Jackson; Her grandchildren: Tim Jackson; Alisha Duncan and husband, J.D.; and Rebecca Jackson; Three sisters: Maudell Toms, Moette "Brooksie" Smith and Cleo Britt; Four great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, one niece and a great-niece. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 23, at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Wynona. Rev. Dale Gowdy will officiate. Interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials to the Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children, 3800 North May Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73112.
