Massey September 11, 1917-April 15, 2003 Jessie Odel Massey, 85, of Newark went to be with the Lord, Jesus Christ, after a brief illness on Tuesday, April 15. He was born September 11, 1917 in Henderson County, TN to John and Matilda Massey. He married Eleanor (Cocks) Massey January 3, 1947 in Corinth, MS. Eleanor died October 28, 1992. He worked at All Steel until his retirement after 30 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to country western music, and visiting with friends at the restaurant in Newark. He is survived by his two sons, Robert (Diane) Massey of Newark, Paul Massey of Prophetstown, IL; a daughter, Barbara (Jim) Carter of North Canton, OH; five grandchildren, Matt (Kris) Massey of Plainfield, Joshua Massey of Newark, Rebekah Massey of Newark, Mike (Mary) Carter of Canton, OH and Stephanie (Jim) Crane of Glenside, PA; two great grandchildren and a brother, JC (Rosalie) Massey of Paducah, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eleanor; a brother, DL Massey; a sister, Sallie Massey and two grandchildren, Luke Massey and Rachel Massey. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 18 with Rev. Stan Motley officiating at the Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home, Ltd., 102 S. Johnson St., Newark, IL 60541-0623. Phone 815-695-5131. Burial will be at the River Hill Memorial Park in Batavia. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Matt Massey, Joshua Massey, Jim Crane, Mike Carter. Memorials may be directed to the donor's choice.
