I am hoping you can help me.  I requested a death certificate on Ira so that I could get a "real" death date and they tell me they can't find one in Kansas.     The census says he was born in Indiana on September, 1862.  And, the only record of his death is on his tombstone.  He was always known as "Ira Stacy Jones" but his marker says "Stacy Ira Jones".  When I asked...no one had ever heard anyone call him Stacy.   Mary Etta Jones was born in Sedan, Chautauqua County, Kansas on January 8, 1878 and died October 11, 1953 in a hospital in  Eureka, Kansas.   I found them both buried in Madison, Greenwood County, Kansas in the Blakely Cemetery: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=pv&GRid=27772700&PIpi=11365797   I am hoping that a newspaper in Madison, Kansas (where they both lived for most of their life) has their obits.   Thank you in advance for checking this for me.  I know I haven't given you too much to go on and I know this will be a challenge. My gggrandfather was killed in Granbury, Texas ca. 1874-5. We are looking for info. on him and an obit. The obit. could have been published in the Granbury, Texas paper or the Hillsboro, Texas paper, where his wife was from. We do not know his residence at the time of his death; we believe he was in Granbury working. We do not know where he is buried, or any further info. on him. I am seeking an obituary for Samuel McCall who died in Cherokee County, Kansas on August 22, 1894. I found a brief obituary for him from the Columbus Star Courier on findagrave.com and it says that more details of his life would be published the following week. It is the "more details" that I am seeking. Here is what is listed for him on that website: Sudden Death. Yesterday morning at half-past eight o'clock, Samuel McCall, one of the leading Heerymen of this city, went to the blacksmith shop of Williams & Martin to have some repairs made on a buggy. While seated on a stool and talking about what he wanted done, he suddenly fell over, and in a moment he was dead. Death came to him as the result of heart disease of many years' standing; but it had been recently aggravated by an attack of rheumatism, from which the nervous system had been much impaired. Mr. McCall was one of our best and most honorable citizens, and he will be greatly missed from among the active business men of this city.
