She was born July 3, 1920 at Montrose, CO. the daughter of John Orville and Inez DeOlevette Bateman Hubbard. She was raised in the Parker and Keene communities and graduated from Dover High School. She attended Brigham Young and Washburn Universities. She was united in marriage to Floyd Rex Taylor on October 25, 1939. He preceded her in death on February 1, 1947. She was married to Frank E. Channel on May 16, 1948. They celebrated 58 years of marriage before his death on October 1, 2006. Mrs. Channel was also preceded in death by a son Veryl Channel. Survivors include her children, Donald "Rex" (Shirley) Taylor, Mesquite, TX, Darrell (Sue) Taylor, Breckenridge, CO, Arthur (Mary) Channel, Mooresville, NC, MaryAnn Hughes, Topeka, Martin (Brenda) Channel, Emmett, Rodney (Dana) Channel, Miami, OK, and Virginia (Jim) Schmelzle, Topeka; 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, April 9, 2009 at the St. Marys United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the America City Cemetery. Mrs. Channel will lie in state after 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys. Her family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:00 P.M. Sun, The (Baltimore, MD) - November 6, 1990 Deceased Name: Maurice W. Hartley Coast Guard employee Services for Maurice W. Hartley, retired civilian personnel director at the Coast Guard Yard in Curtis Bay, will be held at 9 a.m. today at the McCully Funeral Home, Mountain and Tick Neck roads in Pasadena. Mr. Hartley, who was 66, died Saturday of cancer at his home on Wharf Drive in Mount Pleasant Beach. He retired in 1981 after more than 30 years of service at the Coast Guard Yard. A native of Lonaconing, he served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II, attending Creighton University then serving as a bomber pilot in Europe. Later, he retired as a major in the Air Force Reserve. He served as chairman of the board and of the building committee of the Victory Bible Church and was a former chairman of the administrative board of the Community United Methodist Church and a former president of the Mount Pleasant Beach Improvement Association. He is survived by his wife, the former Geraldine Warrington; three sons, Gerald G. Hartley of Ohio, Maurice W. Hartley Jr. and Keith Edward Hartley, both of Pasadena; a daughter, Debra Bosse of Ellicott City; and six grandchildren. I am looking for an obituary for Mrs. S. J. "Daisy" Baker who died in Harlingen, Cameron County, Texas on October 10, 1951. I am not sure what the S. J. stands for but on her death certificate is also has "Daisy". If any one could help me with this I would greatly appreciate it. Mrs. Baker was born January 29, 1875 in Carrolton, Mississippi.
