    3. HBH 1890 July 21 WILLIS Mr WILLIS, who lately took over the UNION Hotel at the Spit from Mr FLETCHER, died at 5 o'clock yesterday morning. He had been ailing during the past week. Deceased was an old settler in Hawke's Bay, and in 1874 carried out the plate laying contract of the line from NAPIER to PAKI PAKI. In conjunction with Mr WATERWORTH he also built the first reservoir the town possessed. He leaves a family of one son and four daughters to mourn his demise.
