    3. Seasonal greetings all, One of my current research threads is a connection with tangata whenua on East Coast. I have copies of a couple of whakapapa documents that some (unknown) twig on my tree possesses. One of these is a rather large chart which was most likely drawn up sometime in the last 30 years. (there are some death dates on it up to 1976 which are probably not later annotations.) I suspect the document was drawn for someone who should be on my tree as the latest few generations are quite selective of siblings but include one pair of my gt gt grandparents and of my gt gt gt grandparents. The document is authored by Ariana Tuati. I have no idea who this person is. I would be most appreciative of any leads anyone may be able to send my way. During 19th century many of my ancestors on this branch were registered with anglosaxon names. A couple of them are on this whakapapa by their maori names (usually fairly common equivalents), so I point out that Tuati is a trans-alliteration of Stewart / Stuart. I have no idea what the equivalent for Ariana is. To extend this line of thought, this document came to me accompanied by 2 pages which appear to be some kind of index which I have not yet decoded. They are lists of names with associated numbers. The content is not important here. The document is signed by A Stewart and dated 20.3.86. So at the moment I would dearly love information about A Stewart, or Ariana Stewart, or Ariana Tuati , who is quite likely to be associated with Ngati Porou hapu / iwi , likely in the rohe o Hauiti from Tolaga to Tokomaru. cheers Graham Dixon (Auckland, New Zealand)
