    3. I suggest you photocopy the original document using A3 to A4 reduction. You can then scan it. Many documents have been larger than A4, which is the size of my not-very-good "HP PSC 1210 all-in-one printer, copier, & scanner", and I've coped by copying one end and then the other - after printing a copy to put in my file (so I can keep the original safely tucked away where it won't get damaged) I simply taped the two parts together, lining up the text to make it resemble the original document. So far, so good. > >Now I have some registration copies from Births, Deaths & Marriages here in NZ, and the way they're set up, my scanner isn't going to cope with that method, as there isn't going to be a good overlap between the two halves. > >Do you know of anywhere, either in Auckland or Whangarei (or in-between!) that can provide this service for a reasonable charge? > >Also, does anyone know of a local source for A3-sized plastic pockets? Our local NZSG group convenor had sourced some from Australia last year, but has now used or sold almost all she bought. If anyone knows of where these can be bought locally for a reasonable price, I'd love to hear from you - and no doubt many other people reading this would like to know, too. :-) > >TIA for your replies. > >Wendy Howard >Kaiwaka, Northland > >PS Annette - in my previous post, I gave you the wrong link to the NZ BDMs - that one takes you to the page to order a certificate, which is not what you want. That way you lose too much quality - photocopiers are not very good at discriminating between different shades of grey. Alternatively you can do what I do - scan the original in as many parts as are necessary and then join them together using a photo editing program. I have done it with up to A2 documents. It is quite easy though it does take a little bit of practice to do the scanning so that the separate parts line up properly. I use Adobe Photoshop but the photo editing program that came with your scanner should be adequate for the job.
