HBH 1890 March 24 Wanganui E JOHNSTON The inquest on the body of E JOHNSTON, who was found drowned in the river, was held yesterday. The jury returned an open verdict of found drowned. A military funeral was accorded to the deceased today. The local Volunteers, of whom JOHNSTON was a member, turned out in large numbers. The procession was the largest that has ever been seen here for many years. The Town and Garrison Bands attended and played the Dead March in Saul to the cemetery. At the grave a firing party of the city Rifles, performed the last honors to their late comrade.
