My Grandfather Michael Lynn from Hastings had an association with a flax mill at Pakipaki. We thought that he was a worker there but a while ago I came across a reference to a flax mill at Pakipaki called "Lynn, Poppelwell and Co". The owner of the website it was on had collected the names of many NZ flax mills but had no idea where he got this information from and I can find no other reference to it. There was a mill there with a different name, which I think was burnt down in the late in the 19th C, but the 'Lynn' mill must have been there in the period 1900-1930. Can anyone confirm it's existence or throw any light on the mill?
