Judy Weller Gerald DOWLING, 27 years of age, a native of NAPIER, and a resident of PORT AHURIRI, was admitted into the NAPIER hospital yesterday morning in a very low condition of health, and died in the afternoon. The medical staff refused to give a certificate, and the police were communicated with, the result being that Dr. MENZIES has been requested to make a post mortem examination, and the deputy coroner will hold an inquest at the hospital at 11.30 a.m. The deceased has been of intemperate habits of late, and notwithstanding that a prohibition order was issued against him some months ago he has been drinking heavily, and arrived home in an intoxicated condition every night for the past week. Deaths caused by intemperance have been alarmingly frequent of late, and we hope every opportunity will be given the police at the inquest to discover the publicans who have supplied the unfortunate man with liquor during the operation, or inoperation, of the order of the Court.
