It has always been supposed that oysters will not grow in POVERTY BAY, and several attempts to acclimatise them on various portions of the coast were unsuccessful. However, Captain ANDERSON, of the s.s., Manapouri, informs us that on his last visit to the port an anchor, which had been lost overboard from one of the company's boats, and which the Manapouri picked up, was found to be covered with a large number of well-grown and delicikous bivalves, which were much relished by those on board.
