HBH 1896 March 2 2 MOORE Our Waipawa correspondent writing on Saturday says: - An exciting scene was witnessed in Rose street this morning a little before 7 o'clock. Mr MOORE is having a brick wall built in front of his residence, and consequently the space is partly open, and access to his fruit trees reliably easy. Hearing a slight noise he went out and found some boys tearing down the unripe plums from one of the trees, who quickly retreated, followed by the owner for some distance, but years or the want of them gave the youngsters the advantage for the time being. It is to be hoped that they eat the stolen fruit, in which they may have something to impress the matter on their minds.
