HB Herald, Sat. June 30, 1894 REYNOLDS, who recently pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing post letters, was yesterday brought up before his Honor the Chief Justice for sentence. In passing a sentence of 18 months' hard labor his Honor remarked upon the serious nature of the offence, and said that had prisoner been older a much heavier sentence would have been passed. Dr. P. MENZIES, honorary surgeon to the F Battery of Artillery, commenced last night in the Garrison Hall his course of ambulance lectures to volunteers. There was a good attendance....... The Cyclist Alliance standard cap and silver bades, won by Mr James BISSELL, of the Wanderers' Club, are to be presented to him this evening at 8 o'clock in the meeting room attached to the Masonic Hotel facing the Marine parade. Mr R.D.D. M'LEAN, president of the club, has consented to make the presentation if he is in town..... Hastings - At the Magistrate's Court today, before Mr W. BEILBY, J.P., Thomas DICKINSON was charged with attempting to defraud the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club of the sum of £9 14s......The case was adjourned until Tuesday next, bail being grantged and at once forthcoming.
