HB Herald, June 8, 1894 We yesterday stated that a house sold by auction by Messrs BAKER and TABUTEAU had been bought in by the mortgagee, Mr J.G. GILBERD. We are requested to say that he was only mortgagee in his capacity of trustee for the Court of Foresters. We have received from Mr E.J. MOUNTIER a mounted photograph of his drawing of Napier in the year 1864. This picture, in addition to its artistic merits, has a decided historic value. The contrast between the shingle beach of thirty years ago, with its few unpretentious edifices, and the Napier of to-day, constitutes an object lesson in the progress of this district and of the colony as a whole.
