HB Herald, Fri. June 14, 1894 Dr. CARO has gone on a trip to England in the Rimutaka. Dr. MILNE-THOMPSON will attend to Dr. CARO's practice. The funeral of the late Mr H. NAPHTALI will take place at 9 o'clock this morning. This early hour has been fixed upon because the Rev. Van SATEREN, of Wellington, who will conduct the funeral ceremony, must leave again by the express train for the South at 10.45 o'clock. The second social was held on Wednesday evening in All Saints' schoolroom, Taradale, when there was a very good attendance, and a first-class programme was gone through. The following ladies and gentlemen assisted:- Mesdames CROSS (2), M'GUIRE, RYMER, GIBSON (2) Messrs GRAY, J. HOLT, C.P. CLARKE. Mr SHEFFIELD, of Napier, played several violen solos capitally, and the Rev. A.P. CLARKE contributed a solo which was much appreciated. The choir sang two glees very nicely indeed, and the accompaniments were played by Mr C.P. CLARKE, the organist and choirmaster of the church. There appears every reason to suppose that the identity of the man found drowned in the Ngaruroro last Saturday will be satisfactorily established. A few weeks back a man named Peter THOMSON, living with his wife and family at the Spit, left to go into the country to look for work. Before going he asked his boy to write on a piece of paper the words "Peter JOHNSON, born in Australia," and a date was added which the lad thinks was "1836." The paper found upon the deceased man bore those words and that date. Mrs THOMSON will go to Clive to-day to see the clothes taken off the body.
