HBH 1890 May 15 GATE'S Farm Ashburton The Christchurch Press records an average yield of 60 bushels of wheat per acre on 100 acres of Mr GATE'S farm, near Ashburton, and of 122 bushels of oats per acre on 35 acres of the same farm. The wheat was Tuscan and the oats Canadian. One paddock of wheat threshed 85 bushels to the acre.
