Subject: Frank (Francis Collinge) Up dating my interests -is anyone researching this surname Hi Listers who is Francis or Frank COLLINGE I went to the council today and asked who was buried in the Puketapu Cemetery next to my gt grandparents and it is Frank COLLINGE and his wife Ann or Anne HARRIS They married in 1876 Folio 1865 at the Pakowhai Church which was then situated between Hastings and Napier (Pakowhai Church) before it became St Mary's Church Their children were: - Mary Frank married to my grandmother Annie Elizabeth BURKE 1916 -he was killed WW1 Their child was Francis Patrick COLLINGE my uncle who died in Levin Soldier's Home or Hospital and had 4 children) Edith Maude Percy Alexander (father of Percy who married Julia Ann CURTIN) and they lived at Pakowhai They farmed their property at Hawkins Road and joined in the life of the St Mary's Parish. Francis was a very generous subscriber to parish funds, and the family had their seat at church. Very sadly, Francis died suddenly as a result of a clot on his lung and Anne was left a widow at the age of thirty-three. Then you know the rest with the War etc. What I haven't been able to find out is anything prior to 1877-Siblings etc??? He had been in this area for some time prior to that and was not born in New Zealand He bought Section 43 when the Mission sold and subdivided the Meeanee property
