Judy Weller Our ORMONDVILLE correspondent writing of Monday, says:- Today Miss Ellen BEALE was married to Mr MAY, of WAIPUKURAU. The wedding took place in the Church of the Epiphany, the Rev. T.J. WILLS performing the ceremony. The bride was attended by Miss L. BEALE and Miss L. GROOM as bridesmaids, and was given away by her father. A hymn was sung at the commencement of the service and the organist played Mendelssohn's wedding march as the wedding party left the church. As they drove away the newly married pair were followed by showers of rice and by the hearty good wishes of those present. The bride and bridgeroom left by the express for WELLINGTON. In the evening Mr and Mrs BEALE entertained a number of their friends in the Town Hall.
Judy Weller Mr W.H. SMITH, of PETANE, informs us that when driving home last night he observed a most beautiful meteor, which flashed from one part of the horizon to the other with a light "brighter than the day." A dull rumbling sound followed like the noise attendant on the descent of an avalanche. Our ORMONDVILLE correspondent writing of Monday, says:-

Judy Weller There is a sign which, welcome to the general public, will not be appreciated by landlords; it is that house rents in HASTINGS are coming down (the G.P. will say not before it is time). As much as 16s 6d per week has been asked and paid for five-roomed houses in HASTINGS. Mr H.L. KNIGHT has had plans prepared for the erection of four five-roomed cottages, and as they are to the designs of Mr George SOLLITT, they will, no doubt, be appreciated.
Judy Weller Owing to depression in business Messrs D. WHYTOCK and CO., the well-known HASTINGS stationers, have been compelled to take advantage of the Debtors' Act. A sensation-hungry crowd thronged the Supreme Court yesterday to listen to the details of an indecent assault case. Little wonder that the principal witness failed. A TARANAKI footballer named Harry M'LEAN is in a precarious condition, the injuries which he received to his neck in a match at HAWERA on the Queen's birthday having caused paralysis.
