    3. Judy Weller The man M'RAE admitted into the hospital on Friday night in a very week condition, and who was not expected to live, died on Saturday. A medical certificate being forthcoming an inquest was considered unnecessary.

    3. Judy Weller A man named John M'ALLISTER appeared before Mr TURNBULL, S.M., on Saturday on a charge of lunacy, and medical examination having been made, it was decided to forward him to the WELLINGTON asylum, whence he will be forwarded to-day.

    3. Judy Weller The secretary of the hospital acknowledges with thanks a parcel of "The Christian" from Mr T. TANNER, EVERSLEIGH. We are informed that there was no insurance on Dr. LINNEY's stacks burned at HASTINGS on Friday evening. Their value was about £20. The Good Templars intend holding a concert in St. Andrew's Hall, PORT AHURIRI, to-night, in aid of Mrs HUDSON and family. A very attractive programme has been provided the NAPIER Boys' Club being among the contributors.

    3. Judy Weller At a quarter to 7 last night an alarm of fire was rung on the HASTINGS fire-bell. The brigade turned out with commendable promptitude but were not required, the conflagration being caused by a burning haystack, which was destroyed, on Dr. LINNEY's property, next to NEWBIGIN's brewery. The stack was insured for £70.

    3. Judy Weller About 11 o'clock last night Mrs ARNOLD, who owned and resided in a four-roomed cottage in Shakespeare-road, informed her next door neighbor that her house was on fire. Assistance was immediately rendered, and to all appearances the fire was extinguished. At 3.30 this morning the fire again broke out, the cottage and contents being totally destroyed.

    3. Judy Weller A short time ago Mr PIRANI, M.H.R., forwarded to the Agricultural Department a small egg found in the bush at POHANGINA. The egg was the exact counterpart of a hen's egg, of infinitesimal size, both inside and outside. Mr KIRK, of the Agricultural Department, pronounces it to be the egg of a large snail.

Judy Weller The tenth anniversary of the Women's Christian Temperance Union took place last night in St. John's schoolroom in the shape of a social.......Mrs TROY, the president of the local branch, reviewed the work done by the union for the past ten years, which showed much cause for thankfulness. Mr CLARKE's band contributed some very excellent music, and vocal solos were very well rendered by Mrs DODDS and Miss FENTON and Messrs SIMPSON, GRIFFIN, and C.P. CLARKE. Mr SHEFFIELD contributed a splendid violin solo, and Miss LOCKING showed good execution in her selections on the piano, the accompaniments being played by Miss COLE and Mr C.P. CLARKE. Mr EDSER assisted materially by a recitation......
