Court yesterday by his "nom de jug," but did not appear, and his bail of 1 pound was estreated. We are indebted to Mr W.J. WILLCOCKS, manager of the New Zealand Shipping Company, for figures (carefully checked by the Customs returns) showing the produce exported from Napier during the year ending June 30th, 1891. There left the port during the year 32 vessels - 19 steamers and 13 sailing ships - and the grand total of the produce taken was as follows: Frozen sheep and lambs, 352,070 weighing 20,384,505 lb: pieces of beef, 11,751, weighing 2,282,309 lb; bales of wool and skins, 58,114; bales of flax, 1326; casks of tallow and pelts, 4334; sacks of grain, 220; sundries, 150 tons.

Mr MURRAY, who is an expert telegraphist, began his career in the Napier office over 16 years ago. At the Resident Magistrate's Court on Saturday, before Mr E LYNDON, J.P., A charge of unlawfully assaulting Thomas CASS-a bailiff, was preferred against P C JONES. It was decided to adjourn the hearing of the case till Wednesday, defendant being allowed bail, himself in £20, and one surety of £10. From a Wellington Paper of Friday In the Banco Court today before the Chief Justice, argument was taken in BLYTHE v PREECE (Trust Commissioner at Napier). The appeal was struck out because it had not been made in time. Mr CHAPMAN was for the appellant (BLYTHE) and Mr BELL for the respondent .The CARTERTON School Committee have tackled the Home lessons bugbear, and have instructed the teachers interested that no home lessons will be given to the children of parents who object to that course. The CARTERTON committee maintain that five hours' instruction daily is sufficient for children, and that the home lesson system throws upon parents a a deal of the work that teachers are supposed to perform.
