B. interests are with Alfred George and Mary SHELLAM who arrived with six children in Napier on the ship Halcione in 1874. Five more were born in Napier. Unfortunately the Passenger list spells the name CHILLAM. Fanny Elizabeth, the oldest child was 12 on arrival. My mother-in-law Vera, born 1909, told me about visiting her grandmother Fanny (Mrs William Donaldson), who had the Beehive Store in Hastings St, Napier, down near Sale St. The second child was Agnes who married William John BENNETT. I was given a great start with researching the SHELLAM Family when, a few years ago, I received a 40 pages of information, including Descendants Charts, about the family once they arrived in NZ, collected by the late Coral & Bert BENNETT of Oamaru. I shall be eternally grateful for this and have since collected a lot more mainly about the family when they were still in England. The other siblings to marry were: Elizabeth Mary m Nathaniel SYMONS Martha m William HARRIS Lydia m Thomas MUNRO Mary Christina m Alfred Holden IRELAND Helen (Nellie) M Christian Einer LIST Henry (Harry) m Mabel Beatrix SMITHSON The three others were sons who never married. Since starting genealogy in 2003, I have managed to make contact with quite a few of the descendants. I have also made contact with the great-granddaughter of Mary’s older sister Martha FIGGINS, who as a spinster married in Melbourne in 1875. The email to which you've responded, A. Ward, was spam. A. Ward, you need to take more care. As far as I can see, you have not posted a query to this mailing list in recent times - not with the email address you've used here, at least. Yours was only the second post to reach this list since January, the spam one being the first. None of the four posts in January came from someone with your name. The spam one is the first with that particular subject line. Use a little more judgement about what mail you open. Never click on a link that you don't know a little more about. Always be suspicious of an email that contains only a link. Opening the email alone is safe, but do not click on the link. If you already have, run anti-virus and anti-malware scans to make sure your computer has not been infected by where-ever the link took you. I've removed the link from the copy below to prevent anyone else accidentally clicking on it. Sue Cummins, your Yahoo account has likely been hacked. You need to log into Yahoo immediately and change your password there. If you can't access the account, contact Yahoo for assistance - the hacker may have changed the password ahead of you to shut you out. Of course, if that's the case you probably won't see this email from me, which I'm sending directly to you as well as to the list - you'll only see the private copy (that's how Rootsweb mailing lists work).
