Dear Fellow Listers I have close relatives whose bodies are buried in this cemetery( Mangere ) In addition I have now learned of some relatives whose ashes are buried there , too , even though their online records indicate( to me ) Purewa as being their final resting place . The penny has now dropped and I realise that a cremation at Purewa Crematorium does not neccessarily mean that intenment took place at Purewa Cemetery. When the Purewa Cemetery and Crematorium online records give 'Burial & cremation Details ', I guess the key words are those entered alongside the sub-heading 'Ashes Disposal' ...................... In each case that I am interested in the wording is 'Retuned'. So if the ashes from Purewa Crematorium are returned can we take it that Purewa Cemetery is not their final resting place ? How can we access the burial records for Mangere Lawn Cemetery , I now wonder ? Ashes can be "returned" to the family for scattering or interring at some other place, or "returned" to the Funeral Director for safe keeping.........and until the Account is paid in some cases.
