    3. Thanks for these newspaper snippets Elaine I know the "old colonialists" met on October the 9th 1892 to commemorate the settlers from the "Duchess of Argyle" and the "Jane Gifford" arriving from England to Auckland on the 9th of October 1842 so it was the 50th Anniversary- One of my McIntosh ancestors (my gt gt gt grandmother Christina McIntosh (nee Munro) were there from the D of A. There was also a "roll call" in 1992 on the same date which my parents represented the McIntosh family Donna Aitken (nee McIntosh) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Elaine Mattsen" <mattsen@paradise.net.nz> To: <nz-auckland@rootsweb.com>; <nz-onehunga@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, November 02, 2007 12:01 PM Subject: [NZ-AUCKLAND] HBH 1892 Oct 3 3 Auckland and Thames > HBH 1892 Oct 3 3 THAMES > Saturday > > Many New Zealand friends of Miss Maud APPLETON and Mr Robert INMAN, > manager of the Grattan Riggs company, will be interest4ed to learn of > their marriage, which took place here today, Mr Grattan RIGGS giving away > the bride. > > AUCKLAND-Saturday > The football cup matches were continued today, and resulted in Parnell > defeating Ponsonby by eight points to five. > > A letter has been received from Lord GLASGOW expressing regret that he > will not be able to accept the invitation to the reunion of the old > colonists, as he will not be in Auckland in time. > > A native named PENE was found dead in a bath at Taura near Mahins, > Rotorua.
