    3. Hello, I'm a newbie here although I've been on UK lists for several years. I need some direction in how to go about tracking NZ lines forward to locate living descendants. I have run into the hurdles when trying to obtain access to NZ birth records -- NZ passport for a permit it seems. As I do not have such, I'd appreciate some advice. Thanks Mike in California

    1. [NZ-AUCKLAND] Whenuapai Air base
    2. Penne
    3. I lived at Whenuapai A B, from about 1943 to 1948 and now of course cannot enter. I went there in the 1960s and took a photo of my house. After my mother died I came across a postcard of a building which rings old memories, I am wondering if is the mess room. I remember going there when I was six or seven to a fancy dress do, where my sister and I were "Two little girls in blue" a popular song of the day.Is there anyone on the list either able to take a photo of the mess, or identify my card? I also attended the school on the base, which was apparently an old Officers block, there were only two class rooms, with a large room adjacent used as a hall.It had not opened when I was 5ys so I started at school at the nearby Hobsonville AB, travelling daily via an airforce truck. Anyone have any photos of either of these schools. The Whenuapai one, had many Nissan huts on the property and the pine trees at the rear, provided much playtime fun. I do not mean the Whenuapai public school at the nearby township of Whenuapai which I assume did not exist during the 1940's . cheers penne

    1. [NZ-AUCKLAND] re CHADWICKS and PARISH REGISTERS
    2. Judy Dumbrell
    3. Hello everyone, I am still researching the CHADWICKs in New Zealand, in particular Richard CHADWICK. I have found that my Richard CHADWICK and his wife Hanora/ Nora were Catholics and they didn't register their children with the authorities in New Zealand. His children were born 1855, 1856, 1857, and about 1860. The only way we have been able to trace them at all has been through Catholic Baptisms, confirmations, marriages etc. One of his children we still haven't found. (It would be so good if you could search deaths and births by the parents names, particularly the father.) However, that said, apart from Catholic records, are there any other archives anywhere that might have records. Richard's children registered the births of all their children. Any help would be appreciated Regards Judy In Oz

    1. [NZ-AUCKLAND] re Richard CHADWICK
    2. Judy
    3. Hello Everyone, I am researching the family of Richard CHADWICK, born about 1822 Ireland, married 1852 Cape of Good Hope, South Africa to Hanora AYRE/ EYRE/ HAIRE and emigrated to New Zealand in 1855 with their daughter, Mary Josephine. Richard and Hanora had 4 more children in New Zealand, Auckland district, Margaret, Agnes, Bridget, and a son. The son was not named on any documents, but was listed on the Death certificate of both Richard and Hanora as alive, eg: Male 33 yrs old when his father died in 1889. I have been trying to find out about this son for quite some time now. I have purchased quite a few certificates, all with no luck. I am wondering if anyone on this list is researching this family. It has been quite difficult to find him, he was born about 1855, 1856 in New Zealand and I have searched every known combination to try and find his birth. I also think that he may have had a daughter Kathleen, as a cousin remembers that there was a 'cousin Kathleen' who came to visit them. Richard and Nora's daughters : Mary married Joseph George Little - they emigrated to NSW. Margaret married John Joseph Pooley Agnes married David Brown Thomson Bridget married Thomas James Evans I do hope someone might know something about this family. Regards Judy

    3. Hello Sandi. If you don't want the photos, my guess is that someone like the NZ Genealogical Society would love to have them. That way, they would be available in the future for a large number of people, rather than just being kept by one person; who might not share them with anyone else. My suggestion would be to SCAN all of them -- perhaps both front and back (if there is any writing or printing on the back) -- then that way you will have an electronic copy for yourself, and to share with anyone at any time who might contact you about this posting; then donate them to the NZGS or maybe to the Auckland City Library -- if they take such donations; or to the Auckland Museum etc. Local will surely know of the relevant bodies which would LOVE to have the originals and/or scanned copies. 3. Not just a much married lady michelle, also no listed divorce from no.1, and no death for no. 3. Have you looked at birth microfiche 1927?? her intention to marry in 1944 might provide the cheapest method, although some of them only give time in that place, not time in NZ.other than that you might have to buy her marriage printout. Does her death notice list any children? cheers penne
