Amy DAVIES examined, he was married to the respondent in AUCKLAND on the 14th April, 1885, her maiden name being Amy BORLEY. She resided first at AUCKLAND, and then came with her husband to NAPIER. The last occasion on which she saw her husband was on April 20th, 1895, when he left NAPIER. She did not see him again until February, 1896, when he was charged with bigamy with one Emily NOBLE. She was present in the Supreme Court, WELLINGTON, when the case against her husband came on, and she heard him plead guilty to the offence. Four children were the issue of the marriage. Her husband, so far as she knew, was still in gaol. His Honor granted a decree nisi, to be made absolute in three months, and agreed to an order for £35 costs.

    3. Does anyone have a Rosie Hilda Angove JENKINS in their tree?? Whilst the above name did not jump out at me during a simple search on Archway I did find her name in the Card Index during a recent visit to Auckland Archives... Whilst browsing the Records of "Auckland Industrial School" Mt. Albert, Auckland. [page dated] 4th September, 1917. Rosie Hilda Angove JENKINS shows as a 1 [one] year old "inmate" at St. Mary's Home Otahuhu, Auckland. The page also revealed the names and ages of her full and half siblings [who were "inmates" of Church of England Children's Home, Richmond Road]. Also revealed was her fathers full name, address, occupation and employers name. All the above info was included on 3 pages relating to Rosie's half sister Myrtle Eliza JENKINS who was sent to Auckland Industrial School, Mt Albert. on the 22 August 1917. Myrtle Eliza JENKINS born. 27 Oct. 1907 was aged 9 years 11 months at time she was sent to Auckland Industrial School. Previous school attended was Napier Street Public School. Previous residence was Church of England Children's Home, Richmond Road, Auckland. (Myrtle's mother had died in 1912 as a result of complications resulting from childbirth [stillbirth] at age 31 yrs) "Circumstances that justify the bringing of the case under the Industrial Schools Act: The child was an inmate of the Church of England Children's Home at Richmond Road but could not be detained there owing to her being subject to epileptic fits. She was brought before the Auckland Magistrates Court as a Mental Defective but the Doctors refused to certify to her being a Mental defective and she was committed to the Mt. Albert Industrial School on the 22nd August 1907". [All of the above "Information was furnished by H. COX, Sergt. of Police".] "Admitted 22. 8. 1917. The Registrar General States... Myrtle Eliza :- born 27. 10. '07. To board with Mrs. SUTTON. 28. 8. '17. Trans. B(oard) to Mrs. UTTING. 4. 9. '17. Transferred board to Mrs. KIRK, Kingsland. 19. 12. '17" (Myrtle Eliza JENKINS died 20 Dec 1919 aged 12 and is buried at O'Neill's Point Cemetery, North Shore, Auckland.) The Auckland Industrial School Records also reveal the Names, Residential Address, Occupation and a brief account of present circumstances of all 4 biological grandparents of "inmate." Also reveals the Maintenance Order details the "inmates" father was required to pay towards her keep. Also reveals that the father "expects to inherit a part interest in his mothers property on his mothers death" Record reveals his mother's name and address of said property. Certainly a wealth of unexpected information... I had gone to Auckland Archives to search Intentions to Marry but got waylaid with Hospital, School Records etc... Intentions To Marry will have to be another visit...! If anyone recognises any of the above names, including the names that Myrtle Eliza JENKINS was boarding with during her short life and in particular Rosie Hilda Angove JENKINS... She may have been adopted out and possibly had a name change???... She may have married???... She may have died young???... She could be someone's mother?... She could be someone's aunt? (Apart from her, now deceased, half brother mentioning his sister Rosie to me a number of years ago, I have never heard her name mentioned or found any other record of her name apart from this one) Myrtle Eliza JENKINS' parents were Richard George JENKINS and Catherine DOIDGE. (my grand aunt) Other known children are... William Thomas b 1903, Eileen Jane b 1904, Muriel Alma b 1905, Richard John b 1910 and Carolan stillborn 1912. Rosie Hilda Angove JENKINS' parents were Richard George JENKINS and Emma Jane BARKER. Other known child is... Mahala JENKINS. b c1914. Myrtle Eliza JENKINS is my 1st cousin once removed... The Industrial School record revealed Myrtle's maternal grandmothers name (my great grandmother) Whilst Rosie is no relation to me... She is however Myrtle's half sister... Any info at all will be greatly appreciated... Hilton Doidge New Zealand

    1. [NZ-AUCKLAND] Boothman family
    2. Wendy Howard
    3. Hi Lyn, > I am trying to check if information received is correct - that John Boothman went to NZ from Victoria, Australia in the mid 1890's to live. I believe 3 of his children went and married in NZ - Elizabeth Ann Boothman married John Pearson Horton in 1904 and they had a son William Horton, born 1908. Sophia Boothman married a Peter Henry McIntosh in 1906, and David Boothman married an Ethel Glass in 1917. Firstly, a heads'-up - it isn't a good idea to post the same request to multiple boards all at once. Pick one, ask your questions and wait a while for replies to come in; give people a chance to see your post and reply if they wish. If you're not satisfied, pick another some time later and ask again. It can be very frustrating to read one list, reply where you can help, and then go to another list where the exact same questions have been asked. Are all the same people reading both lists, so will everyone at the second list have seen the first? Mailing lists aren't all about one person, one question; they're about sharing information in a place where many can learn from the exchange. Mailing lists also have specific topics. Please check that the list you're about to post to is relevant to your query, and if it isn't, find one that is. If the connection to the list's topic isn't obvious in your post, it's a good idea to explain why you chose that list and what the connection is. There's a learning curve to negotiate when you start a new venture, so don't be put off by this. Look around and learn what you can from the information provided on-screen, and ask the list administrator directly if you have any questions about what you can and can't post - you can contact any Rootsweb list administrator (owner) by writing to [email protected] (where "listname" is the EXACT name of the particular mailing list, eg [email protected] for the KiwiGen list, or [email protected] for the New Zealand list). Off my little "hobby-horse", and on to what we're here for... :-) Have you discovered BDM Online - Historical Records (https://www.bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz/Home/)? It may be of help to you if you haven't. You can purchase copies of registrations on that site. Be sure to get the printout, not the legal certificate, for family history purposes. (I explain why at http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/NEW-ZEALAND/2010-04/1272342580) Do take the time to check out the information offered on the BDM site. If you're keen to purchase a printout, find out what data should have been recorded at the time - this changed over the years, and some earlier events aren't as helpful as you might expect if you've seen later ones. Do you know for sure that your family travelled from Victoria to NZ? If not, then you may like to take a look at Public Record Office Victoria (http://www.prov.vic.gov.au/), and PapersPast (http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/). Hope this helps. :-) Kind Regards, Wendy Howard *** Please reply to the list *** -- Kaiwaka, Northland, New Zealand http://freepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~wendyh65/ <http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/%7Ewendyh65/>
