The electoral rolls only go up to 1981 online. unfortunately. There may be another member from New Zealand that may have more info than me. 3. Hello Kim. I have NO knowledge of this family at all; but as many people went from Oz to NZ, (and still do; and vice-versa too. haha), I wondered if there might be any record of them in New South Wales (NSW), where the INDEXES to BDMs are freely available online -- at this URL: http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/cgi-bin/Index/IndexingOrder.cgi/search?event=births I found no references to any DEATHS of ARCHIBALD people showing parents as David and Margaret; nor could I find a marriage for David and Margaret; BUT there were these two early births shown, where the parents are named David and Margaret -- this does NOT mean that it is the same couple who you are seeking, but perhaps they MIGHT be. volume no. / year surname child's names father mother Birth V183996 24A/1839 ARCHIBALD MARGARET J DAVID MARGARET Birth V183797 24A/1837 ARCHIBALD JAMES DAVID MARGARET I have not looked here, but this link to the index search pages at the NSW State Records (Archives) site, might also show shipping arrivals, or other information: http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/state-archives/indexes-online Hoping that this might help; and also that it is not leading you on an irrelevant wild goose chase. Good luck. ray in oz ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kim Harbeck" <[email protected]> ... I have found three births for them: Sarah 1849, David 1851 (25 May) and John 1855. I would like to try to find out where in Scotland they came from. There seems to be a reference to this family in ' Roll of early settlers & descendents in Auckland province bef 1852' 1940 by Auckland Provincial Centennial Council. I hope someone will be able to help me Kim basel, switzerland

    3. Hello everyone, I'm new to this list and researching the Todd family and the Aisbett family and I have hit a brick wall. Ann Todd married Thomas Aisbett about 1847 in Auckland, according to Thomas' death certificate. Her parents were William Todd and Eleanor Parkin. Ann also had a brother John Todd who came to Australia. Ann was supposed to have been born in Auckland NZ. I can't find the births of their children over here either, until the last 2 in 1863 and 1866 in Qld. I looked up the BDMs for New Zealand but they don't go back far enough. Thomas and Ann, their 4 children and John Todd all came across to Queensland. I am wondering if anyone has come across these people in their searches. I have looked through the passenger lists to New Zealand and haven't found a trace of Thomas Aisbett arriving in New Zealand. It is an unusual name and in those days could have been spelt all sorts of ways. Thomas Aisbett came from Auckland or Bishop Auckland. He was referred to as a New Zealander when he opened a pub in NSW in 1878. Auckland NZ wasn't known as Bishop Auckland in the early days was it? I think I am clutching at straws here. Any help with the puzzle would be appreciated. regards Judy Newcastle, Oz
