Hi Dorothy Michelle's info would have come off the BDM site as I saw the same information. I doesn't give you info online of where the person is born or died. I've had a look at my resources and only found 1 lead for you. Given that this gentleman only died in 1998 I personally think you would find info faster if you ordered a printout of his Death Certificate online. It costs about $NZ20. You don't need an official Death Certificate as such, just a print out. All the details are here:.......... https://www.bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz/Home/ Death: Ref is 1998/17666 I found his Cremation and possibly his wife's details here: http://www.northshorecity.govt.nz/Services/OnlineServices/pages/IFCemetry.aspx North Shore Crematorium is over the harbour bridge in Auckland. You will find all the details for the Funeral Director and they may be willing to assist you with and Informant's name for either James or Mary....... It appears that both sets of ashes were uplifted by SOMEBODY. In all my resources I could only find a Henry Arthur Charles CURRIE married Olive Eileen BYRNE as potential parents but Olive would have been very young if James is her son! Not sure if they related to your person. Ref: 1938/12555 Couldn't find any entries on 1911 NZ Electoral Roll. Any census records after this, someone has to go to one of the Public Libraries and research. Another good site for info if there is any: www.archway.archives.govt.nz and google for CURRIE. I found some entries on this site but didn't spend time going through them. These people MAY have had a Death Notice inserted in the NZ Herald newspaper but I doubt if it would be online, being that it is quite recent - 1998. Only way would be a visit to Auckland library to research the newspapers of that month and year. I know this is not possible for you living in Canada, but contact the Auckland Public Library and they may be able to offer a solution and of course a 'fee' :-)) Hope this helps you in your search. Hi Andrea, > I am aware that the police gazettes may hold information but I think they are in Wellington? Thanks for the information - this is where I got to but was hoping someone else in the list may have tracked down these sorts of records and had more of an idea about where else to look. The year I am looking for is 1925. I am aware that the police gazettes may hold information but I think they are in Wellington? Not everything held at Archives New Zealand is listed at Archway, their online index. Send a query to them and ask if there is anything held of interest to you. If there is, the archivist will advise you if the files are open access or not, and if not where to apply for permission to view. Hope this helps. :-) Kind Regards, Wendy
hi Andrea, I don't know if this helps when I was wanting a copy of my Great Grandmother's Inquest into her death in 1888 I had to write to the Ministry of Justice in Wellington and apply for it under the Freedom of Information Act. It took ages because it was so long ago they had to find where the hard copy of it was stored. I rang the District Court in Auckland and the people there were very helpful, gave me the exact person to write to and their address so you could try doing that. Hi Brenda Thank you for your suggestion will follow up. We were tracing a will last year that NZ Archives should have had but didn't and we are still waiting for the ministry of justice in Wellington so I know what you mean by a long time with them. Hi John I have found your Frederick Nathaniel P Meyers and Family on Ancestry and in Papers Past. It is a possibility that the boys came over with their Father around 1858. Was Father H Meyers? Nathaniel married Maria Churcher Paddy 1876 /1785. Date and number to order cert from NZ HBDM. Have some family on eletoral Rolls. He was Secretary for the Corn exchange until 1892. Happy to look further if you want . I wonder if anyone has a look up for 2 people who came from UK (probably Liverpool) to Auckland "a few years" before 1889 Their names were David (or Dafydd) Roberts born 1835 in Trefriw, Caernarvonshire, North Wales a mariner and Robert Owen Roberts born 1863 in Trefriw, Caernarvonshire, North Wales also a mariner. I am indebted to many members of this list for so much help finding out the whereabouts and history of these 2 gentlemen, and I just wondered whether there are any websites/papers/ archives available that might help to pinpoint when they made the journey over to New Zealand. Thank you.
Hello George I am not a member of ancestry but may be able to ask our locals to help. Thank you John
Hi John Are you a member of ancestry - if so, there is a public tree with Nathanial Meyers and sister Eleanor. etc. Unfortunately this does not show the ship they he travelled on to New Zealand - I have tried to search for this also - but to no avail. Please let me know if you want me to email you any more info...
