Nor have I tried to make a connection between the McConnell/Kennedy connection's in Scotland to the McConnell/ Kennedy connection's in Yates/Steuben counties, although I believe their is. Nor do I know where they originally came from in Scotland. There are various other Kennedy/McConnell connections in Scotland durning the early 1800's. Probably the most important connection is the very successful Kennedy (John ) & McConnell Company which was in the textile business during the late 1700's early 1800's. In 1829 John's daughter, Margaret, married, Henry McConnell, whom I believe was the son of his partner. I failed to answer your question about wheather or not McConnell's were in Troquhain at the same time as Barbara's family. I do not know. Had I not just given up my Ancestry subscription, I would check the 1841 census for Scotland for you. I do not need to tell you how right you are as to locations in Scotland. Over the years I've done quite a lot of research into the history of that area of Southwest Scotland simply because the Kennedy Clan traces their history from a time before there was a Scotland. My Kennedy ancestors comes from Kells Parish in Kircudbrightshire, which still exists today and is adjecent to Dumfriesshire. Ironically I had a friend & neighbor whose family came from Kells, and his brother went their each year. From him I learned to pronounce Kirkcudbright, coo-coo-bree. Perhaps you would be willing to share what you have on your McConnell family that I may be able to connect. I think there is a possibility that they connect to my grandmothers Hulse/Hults family.
