What a wonderful opportunity you had in going to Scotland. I sure didn't need to touch on Scotland's geography with you. I thought you'd gained your knowledge from afar, but you've been there. I know now that the various McConnell's I have living in the Yates/Steuben area are not neccessarly connected. As you are McConnell descendent you have access to more information than I do. It's interesting that your line was once in Seneca county. My Hults/Hulse line came from there as well. Perhaps they knew one another and migrated to Steuben together. Another coinsidence is Hulse McConnell. His family was in Steuben prior to my family, and have wondered at times how his parents came to give him such an unusual name unless there was some connection. You probably already know this, but depending on what year, and where in Steuben your family settled in the early 1800s they could have "moved" to Yates without moving at all. In 1823 when Yates county was formed many of those living in that area of Steuben became residents of Yates. In that area it's no wonder so many Steuben/Yates residents intermarried. One could live in Branchport and just about throw a stone into Steuben. No, I'm not related to, or know, Alan Coombs, nor am I aware of the CD you mention. I would have to see it to see if there is a connection. I could go on and on about this ancient family, but won't. Bruce Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
