White, 1991), V. II, p. 1199: John Fisher, NJ Line. Born 03 April about the year 1750 at Englishtown, Monmouth, NJ; he lived there at the time of his enlistment. In 1782, he moved to Tripes Hill near Schenectady, NY (Schenectady co.) for one year and then moved to Johnstown, NY (Fulton co.) for five years and then to Niskayuna, NY (Schenectady co.). Other places he lived were Stillwater, NY (Saratoga co.), Stone Arabia, NY (Montogomery co.), Schoharie, NY (Schoharie co.) and Seneca near Geneva in Ontario county, NY before settling in 1818 in Naples, Ontario county, NY. Soldier applied there for a pension on 26 August 1832. He was married and had a family before the start of the Revolutionary War. In 1854, a Jeremiah or Jeremith Fisher of Italy, Yates co., NY made inquiry but no relationship to the soldier was stated. The present names of the counties were added by me for those not familiar with the area. Before 1818, the towns John Fisher lived in were in the counties of Albany and Montgomery. A John Fisher is found in the 1830 federal census living in Naples, Ontario, NY. He is 80 to 90 years old and living with him are a female between the ages of 15 and 20 and one between 50 and 60. A Jeremiah Fisher shows up in Italy, Yates, NY in the 1855 NY census. He is 73 years old and born in NJ; he is possbily the person who made the inquiry about John Fisher's pension. Elizabeth, wife of Jeremiah, was born in Schoharie county, NY as are several other Fishers found in Italy in this census. My goal is to discover if this John Fisher is the father of James Fisher who was born c. 1782 and died February 1850 in Italy, Yates, NY. There is reason to believe that Jeremiah and James were brothers. James was the husband of Rachel Gillet Fisher and father to my third great-grandmother, Hannah Fisher Bardeen, b. 1823. Any clues would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Kathy This has also been posted to the Ontario county message board. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
