C.S. ----- The Nunda News, Nunda, N. Y. Saturday, Dec. 26, 1885 Death of Wesley Ellis. Superintendent S. A. Ellis sends us the following notice of the death of his father, who was well known by many citizens about Nunda when he had what was known as Swains' grist mill: Wesley Ellis, whose death Nov. 20, has been noticed, was born in Seneca county, N. Y., May 10, 1810, where a portion of his boyhood was passed. subsequently his parents removed to Tyrone, Steuben Co, where he was married to Eliza King, Nov. 10, 1828. He was a practical miller by trade and pursued that business successfully at Starkey and Bellona, Yates county, at Nunda, Livingston county, and at Canaseraga, Allegany county. He gave up the milling business and removed to Michigan Oct. 11, 1853, locating in Easton, Iona county, where he lived on a farm from 1854 to 1873. Several years since he exchanged his farm for a place two and a half miles north of Iona city, where he lived until his death. In March last, his wife of more than half a century, was called to her reward. He now has followed her after the lapse of but a few months. Of the children, two prececeded them, three others are still living: S. A. Ellis, of Rochester, N. Y., Mrs. Joseph Norris, of Lakeview, Mich., an! d Mrs. Rachel Hill, of Princeton, Minn. Mr. Ellis was a good citizen and neighbor, quiet and n__stentations in his life, modest and unassuming. He was much respected while he lived, and died regretted by all who knew him.
