His children were born in VT, NY and possibly Canada. In 1833, a John Adams "of Yates, NY" purchased land in St. Joseph, MI. I believe this was the same John Adams. I further believe this John Adams was the father of Asa Adams born about 1806 in NY who according to his son Elias lived in Monroe, MI, Elkhart/LaGrange, IN and Muscatine, IA and died in Kansas City, MO about 1862. This is all very confusing because according to other researchers there was an Asa P. Adams from Yates, son of Asahel, who died in St. Louis, MO after 1865. Both of these Asas had sons named Elias (though by different wives). Moreover, there was an Asa Pierce Adams who bought land in MI and IN about the time my Asa Adams lived there. Furthermore, according to a John Adams who has posted on this board in the past, his Asa divorced his first wife. My Asa was divorced by his second wife (of a different name). I suppose it is possible that there was one Asa Adams, son of Asahel aka John Adams, who had 4 wives and died not in KS City but in St. Louis. But that seems a little far-fetched. I would very much appreciate help in sorting out the parentage, etc. of this John Adams and Asa Adams.
