I sure wish we could prove this. I went to NY to try to find more on my William but was unsuccessful in attaching him to any of the Hedges from NY. I did find the 3 men you listed and felt that one of them must be my William's father. I have a neat article about how William Hedges was doing government surveys in Indiana and went back to NY where he married Permelia Alden. They both came back to Indiana to settle on land given to them by the gov't. In census searching I found a John Hedges born about 1790 in NY and a Josiah Hedges born about 1805 in NY living in Vermillion County, IN very near my William.
