I believe if you can go to my Wingate Family Tree on Ancestory.com, you will find the Tetor family. I dont have the pictures loaded on there but do have some that Rich McAlpin had sent to me. Let me know which family members you are researching if you dont mind. Look forward to hearing from you. Barb Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [NYYATES] Cemetery Burials added to SAMPUBCO
    2. W David Samuelsen
    3. I know some of you noticed something new had been added to SAMPUBCO http://www.sampubco.com/cemetery/index.htm Right now, only the New York Gravestone Photo Project name lists at the moment, which will be updated monthly per county as needed. There will be other cemetery lists that are not of this particular project, particular the old lists which were recorded 1940s or before. The reason for the cemetery burial lists - they provide clues to where the probate records may be. The link to NY GPP is provided on each county page for quick search for full details and to see photos. To obtain photo, you need to contact the submitter for permission (they own the photos, not me, under copyright law.) W. David Samuelsen SAMPUBCO

"Ronnie" Renaldo Birth: Jun. 4, 1948 Death: Dec. 4, 1973 Ronnie was a friend of mine when I lived in Brunswick, GA back in the early 1960's. I lost touch with him after I went into the military in 1966. I learned in 2011 that he had been killed in a drive-by shooting. In the wrong place at the wrong time. At least that's what I was told. He's listed on the Social Security Death Index, but the entry didn't indicate where he was living at the time of his death. However, information gleaned from Ancestry.com indicates his last residence was Virginia. Ronnie was originally from New York state. Ronnie served in the military, branch unknown. The Department of Veterans Affairs BIRLS Death File, lists his enlistment Date as 6 June 1968 and his release Date as 1 June 1971. Ronnie had two sisters. Robin was older, and Randi was younger. Ronnie had also told me that he was adopted. He told me that his original last name was Drust. I'd just like to know what became of an old friend. The best way to get t o the Historian's web site is to Google: Yates County Genweb The first result will be the search page, which you should bookmark. If you get there through the County's site you don't get a real window & don't have a back button. Go through the search page because that also gives a list of records indexed and transcribed on the site, and instructions for getting copies. Anyway, a name entered in the search box will get results from the cemetery lists. Fran Dumas Yates County Historian Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: MarkRPutnam Surnames: Wells, Putman, Chamber, Briggs Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.yates/567.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Bonita, I have been working on the Joseph Wells family of Tuscola Co., MI, again, and have been corresponding under the Joseph Wells replies with you. I feel it is difficult to place Joseph Wells as a son of William and Sarah Cotton Wells of Benton, Yates Co., NY, who by DNA testing shows as a descendant of William Welles of Southold, NY, on Long Island. However, there was also a Joshua Wells who was listed in Benton in 1820/1830 in the area I presume was later Milo as he appears in Milo, Yates Co., NY, in 1840/1850/1860. In 1850 I believe he is shown as Joseph Wells in Milo. Joshua and his wife Phebe, who is assumed to have been a Briggs, are listed in 1850 as born in NY and NY. In 1860 the census shows VT and VT while later in 1880 their son George Wells indicates that they were born in NY. I assume they were both born in NY. Joseph Wells in Tuscola Co., MI, in 1880 shows his parents as born in NY. In the 1830 Census there where sons born between 1820 and 1825, 1815 and 1820, and another born between 1810 and 1815, so Joseph Wells later of Tuscola Co., seems to fit. Joseph Wells was born in Yates Co., as per the Wells DNA Website. If Joseph was born in Yates County August 27, 1816, which was his birth date, he was likely a son of Joshua altought Joseph did not name a son of his Joshua. As to the ancestry of Joshua Wells, I would venture to guess that because the name Joshua was popular with the descendants of William Wells of early Southold that Joshua of Milo, NY, was a descendant of his. This would make Joshua Wells a W019. A DNA test would be nice. I would guess that Joshua came to Milo, NY, by way of Goshen, Orange Co., NY, and was related to William Wells also of early Benton,Yates Co.,NY. Descendants of the Williama Welles family it appears have indicated that they were from CN. I think this came about when the Revolutionary War took place and many Welles' took refuge in CN but later returned to NY. Some later went to Goshen, Orange Co., NY. My Putman and Chambers families came to Wells, Tuscola Co., MI, from Canada, but they were originally from Barrington and Milo, Yates Co., NY. Wells Township was named for Joseph Wells. My Chambers family also married into the Briggs family in Milo, NY. Mark Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Looking at the database, WELLS or WELLES individuals which have some connection back to Yates Co., NY (born prior to 1820) are: Note: the Wells DNA Family (if known) is listed between parenthesis. Wells, Peter 1756 Wells, William c 1770 (W019) Wells, John 1786 Welles, Joseph 1788 Wells, David Burroughs 6 May 1790 (W015) Wells, Henry (Supreme Ct Judge) 17 Oct 1794 (W001) Wells, Walter 1797 Wells, George M 2 Mar 1799 (W015) Wells, Milton S c 1800 Wells, Reuben 1807 (W019) Wells, Emeline c 1810 Welles, Valorus 1813 Wells, Lewis E 1813 Wells, George D 1818 Wells, Willard 1818 Wells, Joseph 1818 Wells, Isaac Rowland 6 Nov 1818 (W015) Wells, George Washington 1819 (W015) Welles, Samuel Haight 25 Nov 1819 (W001) -- stopped listing for those after 1819 You will notice that there are at least 3 DNA Families noted ... W001, W015 (mine) and W019 .. the rest are unknown DNA families as no one has tested from the line and they have not been connected to any existing DNA families. Since the study is based on the 46-marker Y-chromosome results only 'living Wells males' can provide the DNA sample. The Y-chromosome is passed 'almost unaltered' from father to son, therefore it follows the biological paternal surname... unless adopted or name change. If anyone can help connect them, it would be great Bonita ladybonita@usa.com Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [NYYATES] BORDWELL Family Autograph Album
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old autograph album which originally belonged to India BORDWELL from Bear Lake, Pennsylvania. The album was a gift to India from her teacher in 1886 and includes entries dated from 1886 to 1891 including those of both family and friends as well, including family from Pennsylvania and New York who mostly appear to be descendants from Stoddard & Lydia BORDWELL. India is the daughter of Charles BORDWELL and Laura PIERCE based on the information contained in the album. I've included some of the information regarding the family which I was able to gather along with a listing of all those making entries in the album.
