Elizabeth Delaney and her children John, Edward, Daniel, Charles, Lizzie, Terresa and Margaret migrated to the US in 1864 and settled in Penn Yan where they appear on the 1870 and 1880 census. There is also a grandaughter named Mary O'Neill living with Elizabeth (her name is Eliza on both census reports) in 1880. I believe Elizabeth's husband died back in Ireland. Elizabeth died in 1881. That same year her daughter Margaret married Thomas Muckle, son of John Muckle of Middlesex (Yates County) and this family settled in Gorham-Stanley (Ontario County). I don't know what happened to Margaret's brothers and sisters. Margaret and her mother Elizabeth are both buried in St. Michael's Cemetery in Penn Yan. I am looking for the first name of Elizabeth's husband and for Elizabeth's maiden name. The Delaneys probably came form Mountmellick in County Laois. The children were all born in Ireland between the years 1838 and 1856. Anyone else researching this family? Does any one on the Yates Co. list have a connection to the Latin and Edwards family? And the family of Eli Gardner. They are connected to each other by marriage. One Latin sister married a Edwards, I think another married a Gardner. I am most interested in the 1900 census that shows a Vinta Latin and a Lewis Latin living in Yates Co. I am pretty sure this is my Vinta and my Lewis Edwards as all the dates match as do other info. It is pretty strange though that the surname is given as Latin when there were no Latin's living near by. Any help given is appreciated. Hi, Guyanoga1, Thank you for your post about Lavina Barse. I have been looking in the meantime in Ancestry databases, familysearch.org, and message boards, trying to figure out who she is, but have had no luck. I am quite sure she must be related to my Barse family. What seems *possible *to me is that she could be one of the three *unfound* children of eight of my 4x greatgrandparents John and Betsey Barse. The general age is right - my 3x greatgrandfather William B. Barse was born about 1824 in either Farmington, Ontario County or Milo, Yates County. Another sibling, Rebecca Barse, was born 1814 and married/lived in Penn Yan (married Abraham Wagener). I have had no luck finding actual birth records for any of them. It also seems possible that the missing letter in Lavina Barse's husband's name in the marriage entry was "M," making him Warren Mills. Much of my branch of the BARSE family moved en masse to Olean, Cattaraugus County. I have found a Warren Mills there in a history of Olean who ran for office during the same era that Barse sibling C.V.B. Barse was a leading businessman there. Also, in 1834, in Lucas County, Ohio, a John Barse bought property next to a Warren Mills. The only census record I find for Warren and Lavina Mills is 1850 in Olean, Cattaraugus County. They have one child at this time, Henry H. (I think it's an "H"), whom I have not found in any family trees. There was a *Lovina* Margaret Barse, b. 1 May 1832 in Herkimer County, child of Nathaniel Barse and Margaret Helmer. At first I thought this was the person you wrote of, but realized when I checked my database that she was born the same year that *Lavina *was married. Could you please tell me the source book for the marriage reference? If anyone else has any information on Lavina BARSE or Warren MILLS, I'd appreciate it. Thanks again, Guyanoga1. [For general interest: the reference to Rev. Mr. Adgate, I have learned, is for a Chester V. Adgate, Methodist Episcopal minister in Penn Yan 1831-1832.
