The Farmersville Fire Department elected John KILLINGBECK chief and Ken JARNOT president. Dr. Gordon COMSTOCK of Arcade was re-elected president of the medical staff at Bertrand Chaffee Hospital in Springville. Deaths: Mildred PIERCE THURSTON DONNER, 91, of Machias; Frederick RICHE, 72, of Arcade; Dorothy GREEN EDSALL, 81, formerly of Arcade. 25 Years Ago - April 26, 1978 Terry KLINE of Arcade, who had been vice president and manager of First Trust Union Bank's Yorkshire office, was named president of the First Brandon National Bank in Vermont. Linda RULE was elected president of the Arcade firemen's auxiliary. Adelaide BLAIR of Castile was appointed postmaster in Yorkshire. John LEONARD of Java Center died at age 77. 35 Years Ago - April 25, 1968 Fire destroyed a barn on the Ira WILLIAMS farm near Delevan. Kathy O'DELL of Chaffee was valedictorian and Norine GENTNER of Java Center was salutatorian of the Class of 1968 at Arcade High School. Marlene BOEHMER of Machias was crowned Miss New York State Maple Queen at the Maple Festival in Franklinville. Peter KITTLESON, a teacher at Holland, was hired to teach mathematics at the Arcade school in September. Longtime English teach Marjorie RYAN resigned from the faculty at Arcade. Clinton SALMON was elected commander of the VFW post in Arcade. George and Meve HARKER KEESLER of Machias observed their golden anniversary. Arthur and Elizabeth JACKSON FRASER of Holland observed their 60th anniversary. Deaths: Bertha WHITMER of Chaffee; Ernest PETERS, 74, of Yorkshire; Mabel STONE ARWIN, 82, formerly of Sardinia. 50 Years Ago - April 23, 1953 Eleanor HOSSENLOFF became owner and Lillian HERMAN became manager of the Holland 5 and 20 Cent Store.
