Last summer my husband and I visited the church of his ancestors. The church was opened but the lights were all turned off in the church. With natural lighting I still took many photos. I have created a website of all the photos taken. At the site you will also find photos of every headstone in the cemetery on Bartz road. I have also photographed the entire cemetery behind the church and am in the process of adding this cemetery headstone photos to the website. You can take a tour of the church starting with the church garden outside. You will then be taken inside the church. There you will see the alter area, balcony, church ceiling, etc. Then you will see photographs of each stained glass window that has some of the early members names on the stained glass. In the back of the church was the history of the church with all the original members and their birth dates and place of birth. I was disappointed in the results of the photos of this. You cannot see many of! the names. If anyone would be willing to go to the church and transcribe all the original members names I will add them to the site. There is also a photo history of the past priest of St. Cecelia's. The names of the priest cannot be read but if someone could transcribe the priest names I will add them to the site also. The photos are slow to load but I hope it will be worth 30 min. of your time to take the tour. At the site you can also see photos of St. Cecelia's School. Thanks to Scott Barvian for contributing a history of the church that you will also find. A map will guide you to this beautiful historic church. When visiting the church take the time to sit quietly in a pew and reflect on how our ancestors worshiped our God! Stepping into the church was like stepping back in time........Now step back in time.......http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~evansandobertein/stcecilias/stceceliascemsouth/stceceliacemsouth/stceceliasouthcem.htm This address may end u! p on two lines be sure to copy the entire address. If you have any photos or information on the church you would like to add to the site you can email me with the information.
